For the celebrations, in December 2022, of the 200th anniversary of César Franck's birth, XXI Music Publishing furthered its mission of promoting heritage repertoire with a series of publications dedicated to works by the Franco-Belgian composer.

As a Belgian-law structure, XXI Music Publishing places particular value on highlighting the musical cultural heritage on both sides of the Quiévrain. This ambition is realised both through a contemporary perspective — for example via the orchestration of César Franck's Choral II for organ and orchestra by Belgian composer Benoît Mernier (2020) — and through new revised editions based on the autograph manuscripts kept in various research libraries.

Le Chasseur Maudit (2021)

In co-edition with the Théâtre royal de La Monnaie in Brussels, XXI Music Publishing presents a revised edition of the symphonic poem Le Chasseur Maudit. This editorial work is based on the autograph manuscripts kept at the Morgan Library in New York, and on scores previously belonging to illustrious conductors.

The premiere of this new 2021 edition was performed by the La Monnaie Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Alain Altinoglu, as part of their season-opening concert on Sunday, 5 September 2021 at the Centre for Fine Arts in Brussels.

Musicologist Joël-Marie Fauquet wrote the introduction to these three revised editions.

Les Éolides (2022)

A new 2022 revised edition of the symphonic poem Les Éolides was produced. This editorial work is based on the autograph manuscripts kept at the Morgan Library in New York and the Bibliothèque nationale de France in Paris. This edition has been programmed by the Belgian National Orchestra under the direction of Otto Tausk.

Rédemption — unpublished version

The previously unpublished Rédemption Symphony (first version of 1872), known as the "ancient morceau symphonique" (former symphonic interlude), received its world premiere by the BBC Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Ryan Wigglesworth in May 2022 at the Barbican Centre in London.

Musicologist Joël-Marie Fauquet, a leading specialist on César Franck, wrote the introduction to these three revised editions.

The revised editions of Le Chasseur Maudit and Rédemption Symphony were recorded by Alain Altinoglu and the hr-Sinfonieorchester (label Alpha).
